In C (Terry Riley)Panovci 9, Križevci (SI)At the second concert of the Zvočne barve (Sound Colors) cycle, a 15-member ensemble will perform the famous work by American composer Terry Riley, In C. In C is Riley's best-known work and is considered the first minimalist composition. It is built from 53 short, numbered musical phrases, which musicians may repeat as many times as they wish. Each performer decides for themselves which phrase to play and when to begin. Players are encouraged to play at different time offsets from one another, creating a dynamic and hypnotic soundscape. There is no prescribed length for the piece, nor precisely defined instrumentation – every performance is unique and unrepeatable.
